Guided Hunts
Montana Hunts and Updates: I will not be booking hunts for Montana for the 2005 season. I have a few openings available for South Dakota hunts in late October. I also have openings for New Mexico quail hunting in early January. Desert quail hunting is not for the weak of leg or spirit. Most days will require lots of walking, intermittent frustration and great action. Desert quail hunting can be fast and furious with large bags or it can be tough hunts with few encounters. If your standard of a great day is an easy limit, this is not your game. However, if you enjoy true wild bird hunting in a spectacular setting, this is the real thing. ![]() Kristy, Sage and Sharptails Hunts will be based out of the area with the best bird populations. I do not provide lodging, I will either pick up or meet you in the mornings and drop off in the evening. I provide lunch and beverages. I do my best to accommodate individuals physical ability. We can hunt till we drop or take it shorter and easier. In any case the country is huge and the birds spread out—walking is on the menu.
South Dakota Hunts: These hunts will focus primarily on prairie grouse. Sharptails and prairie chickens inhabit wonderful pointing dog country. The land is vast and wide open. It is the place to let the dogs take us to the birds. Hunts are based out of Pierre although we travel extensively to find the best concentrations of birds. After the pheasant opener in mid-Oct. hunts will still center on grouse with pheasants being a welcome addition particularly on nasty weather days. Those wishing to primarily hunt pheasants should book a pheasant guide. My brother Kevin guides at Pheasant Run Farm with low-impact bird dog hunts with maximum 3 hunters (605- 495- 4165). I do not take large groups. I rarely take more than two hunters at a time. I feel this gives us the best quality and safety for the hunt. The 2005 rate is $425/day/1 hunter, $500/day/2 hunters and $600/day/ 3 hunters.![]()
